Does boob tape really work?
The short answer is: Yes! Boob tape does actually work for most people.
The catch is: It does take some practice and there's a few types that you may need to experiment with to find which method suits you best.
The most suitable tapes are the cotton blend woven types, these are usually around 95% cotton 5% spandex with an acrylic adhesive and are made with a peel off backing paper. These tapes are specifically designed for extended interaction with human skin and have been rigorously tested and used in the sports and physiotherapy sector for many years, most of these tapes on the market are hypo-allergenic, latex free and are stretchable and breathable fabric designed especially for skin contact, so it would make sense to steer clear of gaffers or duct tape for this purpose.
Which breast taping method is best?
This question should really be: "Which taping method is best for Me?"
The 2 most common types of breast lift tape available are:
1. The 5cm wide roll: It's simplicity makes it highly versatile for any shape or size bust, by cutting into short strips, it allows you to pull and push small areas at a time to sculpt your shape, the disadvantage is that it can be quite tedious and time consuming and will often require a larger coverage due to the overlapping of tape. Tape over the top of tape is not ideal for reliable adhesion but if your outfit allows you to spread the tape further (e.g. over your shoulder) this stuff will hold you up for hours on end. Top name brands retail for around AUD$22 for a 5cm x 5m roll.
2. The one piece precut shapes: These are basically a single piece stick on bra cup, they can take some practice but will truly give you an instant lift in a matter of seconds once you figure out your ideal shape/size and method for applying them. When fitted correctly, the single piece shape should be more effective over a smaller area, meaning more bare skin and more outfit choices. The disadvantage being the cost of wasting a few while you figure out your fit. Top name brands can retail for as much as AUD$45 for just 2 pairs.
Both methods can work extremely well and when used correctly, are the simplest and most reliable way to get into those low cut or backless outfits that you just couldn't pull off with a bra (or no bra).
Trying both methods is the only way to figure out which one is best for you.
A little web surfing will reveal countless hours of instructional and advertising videos and other media on Youtube & social media platforms to show all the reviews, how to's, hints, tips and fails that you'll ever need to learn how to tape your boobs. Each brand claiming to be different and better than the rest. But in reality, there's not alot of difference between them. Most of the cotton/spandex blend tapes are all made by the same method using very similar ingredients with only some minor variations.
The primary differences really only coming down to packaging, size, shape, colour and of course, the price.
